We are no longer
operating as a B&B because we are officially retired, however we will continue
to take guests during the Hay Literary Festival.

York House is an
elegant, late Victorian residence situated at the edge of Hay-on-Wye
with a large, south-facing garden.
All of our rooms are individually decorated and furnished to a high
standard in period style and all bedrooms have easy chairs, colour TV,
hospitality tray, hairdryer and alarm clock together with a selection of books. The
ground-floor lounge is a peaceful room with a selection
of games...an ideal place to make new friends. The dining room is on the
ground floor and the bedrooms are on the first and second floors.
At York House we have plenty of private car parking and garage
facilities for bicycles and up to 3 motorcycles. The centre of Hay with its
abundance of eating and drinking facilities is an easy walk of about 5
minutes. The garden is not
'child-proof' and in consequence we consider
that the house is unsuitable for children under 7 years of age. We
have a selection of tourist information to help you plan your day whatever the
weather and drying facilities in the event of you getting wet.
Hay-on-Wye (now twinned with
Timbuktu) is a small but dynamic ancient market town situated in the
Brecon
Beacons National Park. The maze of narrow, unchanged streets of this formerly
walled town houses a fascinating collection of shops. Print, craft, antique,
second-hand and antiquarian books shops nestle amongst small family grocers,
butchers and ladies and gents outfitters.
